AD#697 NOTICE OF ADOPTION Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, September 7, 2017 the County Commissioners of Carroll County adopted Ordinance No. 2017-06after receiving comments at public hearings held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 regarding proposed amendments to Chapter 170, Construction Codes, ? 170.16.Ordinance No. 2017-06 a) increases the minimum snow load on roofs from 30 to 40 PSF and allows reductions; b) revises provisions for residential fire sprinkler systems in renovated existing structures and additions made without renovation to an existing structure, and provides exceptions as to both; and c) replaces the 2015 National Electrical Code with the 2017 National Electrical Code.Ordinance No. 2017-06 becomes effective on October 1, 2017.The County Commissioners also adopted the following revised fee schedule for the Bureau of Permits and Inspections:a) increased fees for building permits for decks, farm buildings, residential solar panels, and finished basements; b) increased fees for electrical permits for residential pools, new dwellings, multi-family units (i.e., apartments and condos), motors, generators, and transformers; created a fee for sub-panels; and eliminate the fees for pneumatic circuits; c) increased feesfor plumbing permits for new dwellings and multi-family units (i.e., apartments and condos); d) created fees for low voltage permits for new residential dwellings and commercial buildings; e) increased reinspection fees for all trades, and add a penalty for repeated violations; and f) created a penalty for repeatedly working without a permit.The Ordinance is on file with the County Clerk to the County Commissioners and copies will be available at the Office of the Clerk, 225 North Center Street, Room 300, Carroll County Office Building, Westminster, Maryland, 21157, during normal business hours Monday through Friday, holidays excepted.
